Glycemic Goals Achievable With New Program
An empowered, educated patient is at the center of a new web-based program developed by the American College of Endocrinology. “My educated patients always do better,” says Etie Moghissi, MD, FACP, FACE, a clinical endocrinologist and the Mission Leader for Blood Sugar Basics: Get to Your Goals. Blood Sugar Basics is a step-by-step plan comprising three “missions” for people with type 2 diabetes to tackle, one at a time, with the help of their primary care provider, endocrinologist, and/or certified diabetes educator. The objectives are patient engagement, glycemic control, and a reduction in diabetes complications. The program provides tools for patients and providers so they can work together to create individualized, patient-centered diabetes treatment plans that help patients get to their goals.
