The patient's ear anomalies together with branchial cysts raise the question: what types of ear changes warrant the need for additional studies--including those for kidney defects?
A 16-year-old Asian American girl presented for evaluation of a cyst on the anterior neck that had become enlarged and inflamed over the past 9 months.
The child had mild purulent discharge at the external urethral meatus; erythema of the glans penis; and minimal swelling of the prepuce, which could not be retracted.
This baby was born with an ulnar supernumerary digit on the left hand. This common congenital anomaly can be an isolated malformation or associated with other syndromes at birth.
