Transcript: Bharati Kochar, MD, on Dietary and Microbial Therapy in IBD
My name is Bharati Kochar, and I'm a gastroenterologist and IBD specialist at the Mass General Hospital in Boston. At the AIBD Regionals, I will be talking about diet and microbial therapies for IBD.
In my talk, I hope to provide lots of clinically pertinent factors for you to take home to your patients. I'll be discussing the diets that have been studied for both Crohn's and ulcerative colitis, presenting some of the newer studies published as recently as this year, and summarizing what I tell my patients about dietary therapy for IBD.
I'll also be talking about some of the topics that just bring up and are very interested in, specifically the use of turmeric or curcumin, as well as probiotics and fish oil, and discussing the data behind fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) for the treatment of both Crohn's and ulcerative colitis.
I hope that you find this to be an interesting and simulating talk that you can take home to your patients again, and we look forward to having you join us.
