COVID-19, IBD Cases Are Now Tracked Via the SECURE-IBD Database
A new registry database called Surveillance Epidemiology of Coronavirus Under Research Exclusion (SECURE-IBD) aims to track novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases among patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
The registry is maintained by an international panel of experts and advisors. As of April 22, 2020, more than 700 cases of COVID-19 among patients with IBD have been reported.
“Given the relatively small number of reported cases and preliminary nature of these reports, we do not recommend these data be used to inform clinical decisions at this time,” the website states.
