Alzheimer's Research & Therapy: An Open Access Journal

Ms. Blanchard is the librarian at the Misericordia Health Centre Library, University of Manitoba Health Sciences Libraries in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Prior to working at the Misericordia Health Centre, Laurie worked at the J.W. Crane Memorial Library, Deer Lodge Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba for 20 years.  She authors the InfoLTC blog for which she won a Manitoba Library Association's Innovation Award and the People’s Choice Award for Best Poster at the CHLA/ABSC 2009 Conference in Winnipeg. Ms. Blanchard is a former editor of the Bibliotheca Medica Canadiana (now the Journal of the Canadian Health Libraries Association (CHLA) , and currently serves on the board of the CHLA. Alzheimer's Research & Therapy, which began publication in 2009, is the major forum for translational research into Alzheimer's disease. An international peer-reviewed journal, it publishes open access basic research with a translational focus, as well as clinical trials, research into drug discovery and development, and epidemiologic studies.

The journal also provides reviews, viewpoints, commentaries, debates and reports. Although the primary focus is Alzheimer's dementia, the scope encompasses translational research into other neurodegenerative diseases.

All Research articles published by Alzheimer's Research & Therapy are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication, without subscription charges or registration barriers. 

In addition, the journal also publishes reviews and other article types that are only available by subscription.
